Residing in Chicago, Illinois, David Malukas is on the fast track to the upper echelons of North American motorsports. As a multi-time karting champion including IAME International Final World Champion, David has moved through the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda and the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires (now Indy Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires) amassing three pole positions, three victories, seven podium results and countless fast lap awards.
In 2019, David advanced up the Road to Indy ladder to Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, the final level in the ladder program. Entering as a rookie driver with a rookie Indy Lights team, David and HMD Motorsports faced the many challenges of competing in one of the top levels, but made his name known as he challenged for podiums.
With his rookie season under his belt and a year of training behind him, Malukas was ready to battle for wins in the 2020 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship. With the cancellation of the season however, David will now be seen competing in the FR Americas program with his HMD Motorsports team. Aiming to build the foundation for a future move to IndyCar, Malukas will be back with the Road to Indy in 2021.
With many hard-earned championships, valiant podiums and major wins in international competitions around the world, David is sure to be found at the front of the largest race fields, whether he has ever competed on the particular race circuit or not. A quick study, always willing to learn and determined to win are just a few assets in his arsenal.
David possesses a pair of secret weapons in his quest for stardom. The first is his excellent communication skills with chassis and engine feedback to raise the bar of his equipment and solidify his position at the front of the field. The second is his demeanor on and off the track making him a marketer’s dream and a brand ambassador that would be suitable for any company looking to partner with a young talent in the world of motorsports. David has the kind of in-the-pits and trackside “laid-back” personality that makes everyone feel good. He is a people-person that cares about others, at least off the track. While on the track, he is a selfish driver that cares only about his and his team’s success at the top step of the podium.
