Chicago, Illinois resident David Malukas is looking forward to the second half of the 2019 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship season. This weekend, he will compete in rounds eight and nine at the famed Road America alongside the NTT IndyCar Series and the complete Road to Indy program in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
“This weekend will be rounding out the first half of the 2019 Indy Lights season,” Malukas explained. “We have had some success so far this season, and the BN Racing team and I have shown that we have a fast car. Unfortunately, we have also had some setbacks. We did not get the results we were hoping for during the month of May, but I am confident we will be able to bounce back this weekend.”
Malukas will be heading to the fourteen-turn road course Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin June 21-23. Last season, the BN Racing competitor finished on the top step of the podium for both races at Road America in the Indy Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires Championship (formerly known as the Pro Mazda Championship) series.
“After our set backs in Indianapolis, I am excited to be heading back to a track where I have had great success in the past,” exclaimed Malukas. “I think it will be a great way for me to get my confidence back and hopefully make up some points in the overall championship.”
Malukas currently sits seventh in points in the 2019 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship chase.
The race weekend will begin on Friday with a morning practice session and qualifying for round one later in the afternoon. Saturday will kick off with round two qualifying and the green flag for race 1 (round 8) will drop at 1:50pm. Round nine of the season will take place on Sunday morning at 8:50am. All sessions for the weekend can be seen on the Road to Indy TV app or at www.IndyLights.com.
